Overview Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust welcomes applicants to apply for this Substantive consultant post in Ophthalmology with special interest in Glaucoma at the Western Eye Hospital. This is a full time post within the Ophthalmology service. Management of complex Glaucoma cases would be expected. We have a close working relationship with other medical specialties to provide support with management of other secondary conditions. The role will also be job planned to session in the Ophthalmic emergency department located at The Western eye hospital and session in high volume cataract theatre lists. The post offers an exciting opportunity for an energetic and innovative person to join the ophthalmic service for the UK's first Academic Health Science Centre and the largest trust in the country. Late applications will not be accepted. Responsibilities Outpatient care of complex glaucoma patients. Undertaking A&E sessions at the Western Eye Hospital. High volume low complexity cataract and glaucoma cases in theatre. Maintain good communication with GP, optometrists, hospital clinicians and other allied professionals. Provide teaching to medical students, other junior doctors, optometrists. Assist in academic and pharmaceutical research activities within the department. Assist in the management and development of the clinical service. Provide clinical expertise in line with agreed job plan, including specialist glaucoma work in clinic. Manage patients under care, including those being seen by the team. Work with the whole team and wider department, being available for internal and external referrals. Perform glaucoma diagnostic review on patients and eye emergency department session depending on job plan and training route. Cover other sessions on an ad hoc basis depending on departmental needs. Keep up to date with ophthalmic practice. Abide by GMC good medical practice guidelines.
