Principal Clinical / Counselling Psychologist – Cardiac Rehabilitation NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde employs over 40,000 staff and serves a population of 1.15 million, offering acute hospital, primary, community and mental health care services. The cardiac rehabilitation psychology team is part of a multidisciplinary MDT that includes clinical nurse specialists, physiotherapists, a dietitian, clinical support and administration staff, and regularly liaises with local cardiology consultants and pharmacists. The post holder will provide highly specialist psychological assessment, including neuropsychological screening assessments, and therapy. Working autonomously within professional guidelines and the team’s policies, the psychologist will receive supervision from a consultant clinical psychologist. Based primarily at Royal Alexandra Hospital in Paisley, the psychologist will deliver psychology input across the service area and at different bases as required, offering in‑person, telephone and video (Near Me) appointments to support patient choice. Psychotherapy approaches: cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), compassion focused therapy (CFT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), interpersonal psychotherapy (IPT), eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) Motivational interviewing This post offers a variety of individual and group work opportunities. The psychologist will utilise research skills for audit, policy and service development, and for research activities within the area served by the team/service. They will also provide clinical and professional supervision to trainees undertaking Masters or Doctoral training and support MDT training, follow‑up coaching, and supervision sessions where required.
