You can experience a world of opportunity and the chance to shape a career as unique as you.A Little More About Your Role…We are looking for a Consultant who has experience in the delivery of flood risk assessment projects to work collaboratively on technically complex projects for a range of clients.Working as part of our national team, the successful candidate will also be able to work seamlessly across other technical areas within the Sustainable Water Management team. This includes but is not limited to flood risk modelling, LLFA technical services and flood management solutions; as well as other water environment technical areas including Water EIA, WFD assessment, permitting applications, geomorphology and BNG.You will contribute to a diverse range of projects but the main focus of your work is likely to be Flood Risk Assessment for major infrastructure projects in the UK and overseas, with wider involvement in flood modelling, flood management and Water EIA as appropriate to individual experience. Sharing your technical expertise and mentoring more junior members in the team will also be part of your role.Responsibilities Will IncludeUndertaking / performing project tasks assigned by senior team members such as:Carrying out flood risk assessments and preparing deliverables.Supporting complementary projects and developing skills in areas such as sustainable drainage design, planning application reviews, preparing Local Flood Risk Management Strategies, permitting applications, and environmental assessmentsCarrying out site surveys to collect baseline information and support Section 19 investigations.Taking leadership of certain project management activities including financial and programme management.Communicating and liaising effectively and efficiently with the project team (both the Sustainable Water Management team and the wider business)Working collaboratively within the team and proactively supporting junior staff in developing their technical knowledge and understanding of tasks assigned.Your team…Due to strong and sustained growth in our Sustainable Water Management business, we are seeking new colleagues who have experience in Flood Risk Assessments to join our team of 350 water consultancy and engineering professionals. Applicants are invited to further strengthen our technical capability in water environment assessment to lead the delivery of a range of project work, including planning and DCO applications for major infrastructure development.Our Leeds team comprises five water environment and flood risk professionals who work collaboratively on projects with our regional team of 40 across the North East and North West, and with our national team of approximately 150 across the UK We have a strong portfolio of major infrastructure projects such the Bristol Heat Network and Cullompton Town Centre Relief Road; and with clients such as National Grid, Network Rail and National Highways. We also continue to support our strong portfolio of Local Authority and Lead Local Flood Authority clients, including delivery of transport infrastructure schemes, flood investigations, flood risk management strategies and planning review support.The Sustainable Water Management business operates as a national team and work is shared around the team in a fair and transparent way, ensuring project allocation takes into account personal interests and development aspirations and much as practicable.Skills / ExperienceWhat we will be looking for you to demonstrate…Experience of Flood Risk Assessment preparation, and experience in one or more of the typical supporting skills including flood risk modelling, flood risk strategy development, drainage design or Water EIA, at least some of which should have been in consultancy.Experience of providing technical inputs for planning and permitting for major infrastructure projects. This could include preparation of FRA and Water EIA inputs to planning applications, supporting DCO examinations or planning inquiries, and developing applications for environmental permits.Knowledge of the regulatory context for flood risk planning in the UK.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.Some experience in supporting project management.QualificationsA degree in a relevant environmental, geographical, science or engineering discipline is essentialActively working towards chartered status with C.WEM, CEnv, CSci or CEngImagine a better future for you and a better future for us all.Join our close-knit community of talented individuals who share your passion for making a positive impact.
