Principal Flood Risk

OverviewWe currently have a brilliant opportunity for a Principal Flood Risk & Drainage Consultant to join Lucion as part of our Flood and Climate Risk Team. We are looking for someone with a strong technical background, passionate about managing flood risk, and driven to develop colleagues and grow the business. This is a full-time, permanent role with salary DOE, based in Leeds or Manchester.Make sure to apply quickly in order to maximise your chances of being considered for an interview Read the complete job description below.What We DoYou will be working on a diverse range of planning application and transactional due diligence projects for public and private sector clients.ResponsibilitiesManagement of projects from inception to completion, including preparation of fee proposals and tenders, demonstrating a wide range of technical, project management and commercial skills.Management and completion of Flood Risk Assessments, Drainage Strategies and Flood Scoping Reports to support planning applications for clients.Supporting staff in conceptual drainage design (incorporating SuDS techniques) and production of drainage plans.Undertaking technical review of reports, drawings and calculations.Management and completion of Flood Risk Appraisals for investor and pension fund clients, assessing risk for all sources of flooding and providing practical mitigation measures, recommendations and commercial advice.Providing bespoke advice to identify and resolve flood risk & drainage issues for clients.Involvement in product development and completion of other flood risk and drainage projects for existing and new markets (e.g., nutrient neutrality and ESG).Building relationships with clients and across other technical disciplines within the Lucion Group.Mentoring and line management of staff within the team to support professional development.What We Need From YouGrowth mindset with a proactive and resourceful approach.Ability to prioritise and meet deadlines.Ability to learn new skills quickly and be self-motivated.Keen to develop services and drive innovation.Positive attitude to work winning and client development.Commitment to personal CPD.Sound communication and personal effectiveness skills to liaise with colleagues and clients.What We Would Like From YouBachelor’s/Master’s degree in relevant subject (e.g., Geography) or equivalent qualification/experience.7+ years’ experience in flood risk and drainage consultancy with understanding of design guidance, regulatory processes and planning policy.Extensive experience managing projects and liaising with clients and statutory consultees.Significant commercial awareness.Experience using MicroDrainage/InfoDrainage or equivalent software (preferred).Experience using AutoCAD (preferred).Experience using QGIS or other GIS software.Desirable to be Chartered or working towards Chartered status.Benefits Of Working With LucionWe offer a comprehensive package to attract and retain the best people, including:Competitive basic salary depending on skills and experience.Company matched pension scheme.25 days annual leave plus bank holidays, with option to purchase additional leave.Hybrid and flexible working opportunities.Career progression opportunities within a growing water team, supported by mentoring schemes.Support in applying for chartership.A friendly, supportive and experienced team.Involvement in exceptional and innovative projects.Volunteer and community action opportunities.Employee Assistance Programme (counselling and legal assistance).Cashback and discounts on purchases and events.More About UsLucion Delta-Simons is a nationwide, multi-disciplinary environmental consultancy, part of the Lucion Group, specialising in Environment, Health & Safety and Sustainability advice and support.
