Based at the child development centre on the Royal Stoke site the successful applicant will join a well-established community paediatric team to provide a comprehensive community paediatric service for Stoke on Trent and North Staffordshire. This will include participation in the child protection rota 9-5 Monday to Friday. There is no requirement to participate in the West Midlands SARC service. The post holder will assess, diagnose and manage common community paediatric problems including pre-school ASD. ADHD assessment is not required as this is provided by the local CAMHS service. Main duties of the job The post holder will be fully trained in the assessment of Looked after Children and be able to undertake these assessments independently. There will be opportunity to join the department for peer review sessions in both safeguarding and developmental paediatrics. Secretarial support is provided by a secretary and support secretary based nearby to the doctors’ shared offices where PC and internet access is provided. Detailed job description and main responsibilities · Minimum 4 years (or equivalent) postgraduate training, two of which must have been in paediatrics or community paediatrics at ST1/2 level at least. 6 Months experience within Looked After Children is essential along with the expertise to assess a normal child and to recognise and appropriately manage abnormalities.
