Hardware Management Engineer

As a Hardware Management Engineer in our Research Infrastructure Engineering team, you will be responsible for the day-to‑day operations, monitoring, and maintenance of our physical server infrastructure. You’ll be directly involved in ensuring our server fleet remains healthy and efficient, liaising closely with hardware vendors and data centre staff to manage incidents, maintenance, and hardware lifecycle events. What You’ll Work On Responding to hardware alerts and coordinating diagnosis, triage, and resolution Managing vendor tickets, escalating issues, and ensuring SLA compliance Planning and performing hardware replacements, upgrades, and firmware updates Coordinating with DCO staff for physical deployments, cabling, and troubleshooting Maintaining asset records including serial numbers, lifecycle status, and service events Supporting capacity planning and helping ensure infrastructure readiness Keeping documentation up to date on hardware inventories, layouts, and support processes What You’ll Bring 2-5 years of experience in hardware operations, infrastructure support, or data center engineering Solid understanding of server components (CPUs, memory, storage, NICs, etc.) and system diagnostics Hands‑on experience with HPE OneView, Redfish APIs, and HPE iLO interfaces is essential Exposure to Linux and automation systems is essential, including: Boot management and provisioning workflows Use of NetBox for asset tracking and documentation Configuration management with Ansible Practical experience managing vendor relationships and handling support workflows (e.g. RMAs) Familiarity with enterprise hardware from vendors such as HPE, Dell, Supermicro, or Lenovo Exposure to observability tools such as Prometheus, VictoriaLogs, and Grafana is valuable Strong organisational skills and attention to detail in managing tickets and documentation Clear communication skills for coordination across engineering, vendors, and data centre teams Seniority Level Mid‑Senior level Employment Type Full‑time Job Function Information Technology Industries Banking #J-18808-Ljbffr
