Opticore IT are currently searching for a Hardware Management Engineer to join one of our Financial Services in their Research Infrastructure Engineering team, responsible for the day to day operations, monitoring, and maintenance of our physical server infrastructure. Opticore IT is a specialist Network Engineer and Project Management consultancy offering a wide variety of opportunities to work within fast-paced, challenging environments across our client base spanning multiple sectors including Finance, Broadcast Media, Telecommunications and more. This is an initial 6 month contract opportunity Inside IR35 with the prospect of extension. You will be required to be on site 5 days a week, based in Central London. What you'll be doing: Responding to hardware alerts and coordinating diagnosis, triage, and resolution Managing vendor tickets, escalating issues, and ensuring SLA compliance Planning and performing hardware replacements, upgrades, and firmware updates Coordinating with DCO staff for physical deployments, cabling, and troubleshooting Maintaining asset records including serial numbers, lifecycle status, and service events Supporting capacity planning and helping ensure infrastructure readiness Keeping documentation up to date on hardware inventories, layouts, and support processes What you'll bring: 2–5 years of experience in hardware operations, infrastructure support, or data center engineering Solid understanding of server components (CPUs, memory, storage, NICs, etc.) and system diagnostics Hands‑on experience with HPE OneView, Redfish APIs, and HPE iLO interfaces is essential Exposure to Linux and automation systems is essential, including: Boot management and provisioning workflows Use of NetBox for asset tracking and documentation Configuration management with Ansible Diversity: At Opticore IT we embrace diversity and are committed to equal opportunities.
