Job Summary Based within the EDI team, the appointed EDI Officer would be responsible for supporting and providing expert in‑depth EDI expertise and advice and contributing to the delivery of the Trust's EDI objectives. Main Duties Support the Head of EDI with the Trust's equality, diversity and human rights agenda to mainstream equality and diversity throughout the organisation's culture, workforce practices and healthcare provision. Project manage programmes and work streams using project management tools and quality improvement methodology. Analyse and interpret data and complex information, and present contentious data where required. Provide expertise on reasonable adjustments and manage allocated workstreams. Support the Trust's Inclusion Board agenda setting and continuous engagement activity. Work with key stakeholders to implement and review effective processes, e.g. Oversee Equality Impact Assessments, to ensure that service developments reflect the needs and priorities of different groups. Ensure the implementation of the Equality Act, public sector duties and other equality and discrimination legislation and policy requirements as required by emerging equalities legislation. Produce and evaluate equality and diversity objectives and action plans in consultation with staff and other stakeholders. These plans will often be highly complex and sensitive, and therefore require considerable negotiation and communication expertise. Advise and brief the People and Culture Committee, the EDI Implementation Group and other staff on EDI issues. Develop the Workforce Race Equality Standard, Workforce Disability Equality Standard, Public Sector Equality Duty, and Pay Gaps, with evidence of actions to improve scores. Support the Pay Gap reporting and working with the relevant teams and staff networks to reduce the gaps. Advise the Trust on taking action to promote equality of access and opportunity and policies that are fair and flexible to service users and staff who are affected by them. Support and work closely with the People and Culture Directorate to mainstream diversity into employment policies and practices. Act as the subject matter expert in relation to equality and diversity training, identifying requirements and commissioning and/or delivering briefing sessions and training programmes for managers, staff and other stakeholders as necessary. This will include the development of relevant e‑learning packages and input to the design and delivery of induction and mandatory training sessions as appropriate, working with the Learning and Development team. Person Specification – Qualifications, Accreditations, Education Educated to Master's Level or equivalent work experience and knowledge in Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Undertaken a variety of additional short courses to develop expert specialist knowledge Significant experience, knowledge and expertise gained through working in Equality, Diversity and Inclusion or related field as subject matter expert Evidence of continued professional development Person Specification – Experience Experience of contributing to Change and driving transformation within a complex and multi‑disciplinary organisation. This includes providing support to, and influencing, business area Directors and senior leaders on highly complex change programmes and transformation initiatives Experience of working collaboratively with all stakeholders to deliver aims and objectives, supporting and developing the leadership and management capabilities of senior staff throughout the organisation Significant experience in Equality, Diversity and Inclusion and expertise in workforce equality delivery and outcomes Experience of advising and dealing with Equality and Diversity issues with staff and managers at all levels Experience of leading on WRES, WDES, Pay Gaps and Model Employer Experience of policy development Experience of using information and writing reports based on analysis Demonstrable experience of the development and provision of training and development programmes Demonstrable experience of consulting and negotiating with key partners, customers and staff representatives Experience of supporting organisations in business and strategic planning Demonstrate awareness of the strategic context they are operating in and consider the strategic implications of all key decisions Significant experience of dealing with and providing expert advice and guidance to respond to Freedom of Information requests, risks and complaints related to equality, diversity and inclusion for staff.
