If you answered yes, then this job opportunity for an SEN / SEMH Teaching Assistant may be for you An Alternative Education Provision School in Wareham is seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join their team. The Role: You will be responsible for supporting classroom teachers in providing the best support possible to students ranging in the ages 8-18 years old, with various SEN and behavioural difficulties such as: Complex and persistent SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) needs SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities) Autism Spectrum Condition Speech, language and communication needs Anxiety, depression, and other mental health challenges Pupils may also be awaiting CAMHS assessment/treatment or have experienced self-harm. Many have struggled to engage with mainstream education due to social, emotional, or sensory challenges Who We Are Looking For: Applicant must be comfortable working in a PRU / Alternative Provision setting A patient, resilient, innovative and caring individual with a compassionate approach to supporting young people SEMH experience in or out of an educational setting SEN(D) experience in or out of an educational setting Able to collaborate with teachers and other support staff Understanding of positive behaviour support strategies Able to de-escalate challenging situations calmly and safely Working Hours/Benefits: Full Time Monday-Friday = 08:30 – 15:00 Access to over 10 SEN training courses which are free of charge, plus plenty more with a generous discount 12.07% Holiday Pay Please note, this role is Term-Time Only About Us: Teaching Personnel is a specialist education recruitment agency, working with a variety of SEN(D) schools across the UK – pairing talented educators with the perfect role for them We pride ourselves on providing the best experience possible for all educators, schools, and students we work with.
