Sterile Services Technician with Additional Duties Be among the first 25 applicants. Job Overview We are recruiting a Full‑time Sterile Services Technician with Additional Duties. Technicians contribute to the overall effectiveness of the Sterile Services Department by working efficiently within Good Manufacturing Practices, assembling and packing comprehensive surgical instrument trays, supplementary instruments and procedure packs for use in theatres and other clinical departments. Main duties of the job Operate washer disinfectors, sterilisers and other decontamination equipment. Control the collection and dispatch of each instrument set, supplementary and procedure pack to the correct operating theatre, ward, clinic and department. Maintain departmental quality systems and BCUHB policies. Undertake additional tasks assigned by the Manager/Supervisor in accordance with SSD Procedures and BCUHB Policies. Recognise that quality is integral to the service and continuously review and improve it to meet local needs. Promote good working relationships between SSD colleagues and BCU staff and participate in promotion of the SSD and BCUHB. Communicate concise information to SSD colleagues and BCU staff daily through hand‑over of care. Assist manager/production supervisor with control of visitors to the sterile services department. Use available resources in the most cost‑effective way, ensuring safe and efficient patient care. Overtime may be requested from time to time. Qualifications & Requirements Good numeracy and literacy skills. NVQ Level 2 or equivalent experience. Knowledge of working within a Quality Management system (desirable). Administrative skills (desirable). Previous experience working in a Sterile Services Department (desirable). Driving is an essential part of the role. The ability to speak Welsh is desirable; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
