The post holder will have rotational placements that include adult and paediatric Nuclear Medicine and PET CT, working closely with the team of healthcare professionals. The department routinely participates in clinical trials. We have a dedicated on-site licensed Radiopharmacy unit providing a full range of diagnostic and therapy radiopharmaceuticals. CPD is actively encouraged with the opportunity to further your knowledge and experience by attending and presenting at conferences and seminars. We have 6 SPECT CT gamma cameras across sites including the Spectrum Dynamics Veriton 64slice CZT and the first in the world Siemens Symbia Pro-Specta X7 SPECT CT system. We are in the process of upgrading our PET Centre from 1 to 2 PET CT systems. We are looking for someone to join a caring dedicated and supportive team interested in working at the forefront of diagnostic Nuclear Medicine. We welcome applications from innovative and enthusiastic Clinical Technologists/ Radiographers. Suitably motivated radiographer applicants with limited experience of PET or Nuclear Medicine are actively encouraged to apply for this post as comprehensive training will be given (this will be on an Annex U pay scale until trained). If you require further information, please contact: Main duties of the job The post-holder is a member of a multidisciplinary team that provides diagnostic and therapeutic procedures and services directly to patients. They have responsibility for performing a wide range of diagnostic procedures on patients of all ages and who are suffering a wide range of illness, including cancer. They may be actively involved in the preparation, dispensing and administration of sterile radioactive materials; acquisition of imaging data, analysing and calculating results and the disposal of radioactive waste material. As a senior member of staff they are required to work unsupervised and to also provide direct and indirect supervision to more junior staff. They will take an active role in the organisation of the routine daily workload of the department, liaising with other radiographers, technologists, medical, nursing and clerical staff. The post holder will participate in a rotational placement to the Birmingham PET centre and this will include occasional Saturday shifts. A rotational placement will also be undertaken at the satellite unit at Birmingham Children's Hospital as well as being available at our other sites. The post holder will be involved in delivering theoretical and practical training to junior members of staff and trainees. The post-holder works in a highly specialised area which requires consideration of the risks of radiation and cross infection together with the empathy and skill to help patients through difficult and complex procedures.
