Calling all compassionate and dedicated individuals About the role Mencap is seeking passionate, part‑time Support Workers to join our incredible team in Thorne. As a Support Worker, you will have the opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of individuals with learning disabilities. You will work with a diverse group of people, each with their own unique abilities and needs. From assisting with daily activities to providing emotional support, you’ll play a vital role in their lives. Our service supports individuals who require assistance with learning disabilities, physical disabilities, mental health needs, and communication difficulties. Support Workers provide the physical and emotional support our people need every day, including assistance with personal care, medication, finances, activities and everything else to help them achieve their goals and aspirations. Qualities and Skills Required Relationship Building: Essential for gaining the trust of the people we support, establishing open communication, and building lasting relationships. Patience and Understanding: Important for navigating challenging situations effectively. Conflict‑Resolution Techniques: Necessary for managing and resolving conflicts in a constructive manner. What we’re looking for A genuine passion for supporting others. Excellent communication skills and the ability to build meaningful relationships. Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays. A positive and empathetic attitude towards individuals with learning disabilities. People who enjoy interactivity with the people we support. Contract options 25 hours per week Shifts Various shifts – between 07:00‑22:00 Must be flexible to cover sleep‑in when required on days. Paid at a flat rate of £63.70 per sleep.
