We’re working with a fantastic SEN school in Gateshead that’s looking for a steady, supportive Behaviour Support Assistant to work 1:1 with a pupil who needs consistent guidance, reassurance and structure. The school has a warm, nurturing feel and a team who work closely together to give every child a sense of belonging. What the role involves Supporting one pupil throughout the school day, helping them regulate emotions and stay engaged Using clear routines, positive reinforcement and calm communication Working with teachers, support staff and the pastoral team to ensure strategies are consistent Helping create a safe, predictable learning environment Celebrating the small wins, even on the tougher days What the school is looking for Someone patient, grounded and great at reading situations Experience in SEN, youth work, care, sports coaching or behaviour support is helpful A person who can stay calm in challenging moments and rebuild connection afterwards Clear communication, resilience and a warm approach You don’t need to have all the answers, just the right attitude and willingness to learn Why work with Protocol Education?
