Job Summary The Christie is pleased to offer an opportunity for a suitably experienced individual to join the Haematology and Teenage and Young Adult Service (TYA) as a Quality Officer. Based at the Withington site, you will be a valued member of the Haematology and TYA quality team and work alongside the Quality Manager. Your role will involve document management, asset management, quality leadership and oversight within the TYA/Hematology Department. Main Duties This post works closely with and is supported by the Quality Manager, the Directorate Lead Nurse and two Data Coordinators. We are looking for a self‑motivated, proactive individual who can work well independently and as part of a team. Good attention to detail is essential to ensure completeness, accuracy and consistency of work so that it meets the standards of quality expected within a leading Haematology centre. Qualifications You must be educated to degree level and demonstrate excellent IT skills, particularly in Microsoft Excel. A science, mathematics or statistics related degree is advantageous. Experience in clinical audit, information systems and quality management within a healthcare organisation is preferred. Contribute to the development of the QMS, focusing on electronic solutions such as QMS to streamline quality workflows and CAPA management. Support and lead incident investigation and management, ensuring learning is shared and actions are followed up. Assist with preparation and facilitation of external audits, inspections and accreditation visits. Help teams develop CAPAs and track completion of actions after incidents, audits and changes in practice. Review documents and complete audits as required by regulatory standards. Prepare agendas and documents for monthly governance and operational meetings. Communicate with internal and external stakeholders regarding quality improvement. Negotiate sensitively to embed improvements into service delivery and demonstrate impact on clinical outcomes. Attend regular and ad‑hoc meetings, deputising for the Senior Quality Manager when required. Lead quality improvement audits and projects, contributing to the annual quality report. Promote a culture of continuous improvement across the Trust and Network Services Divisions. Identify and respond to failures to meet legislative and QMS requirements, escalating issues appropriately. Support document and change control in accordance with divisional standards. Information Management Maintain accurate quality management records ready for regulatory inspection. Provide regular and ad‑hoc reports as required. Ensure business continuity arrangements for electronic systems during disruptions. Update and maintain databases related to the Quality Management Framework. Interact with trust reporting systems such as DCIQ to evaluate quality findings. Assist the Senior Quality Manager in data analysis and oversight of the Data Manager. Securely maintain all paper‑based systems. Continuing Professional Development and Education Drive self‑development through the appraisal system and complete the agreed personal development plan. Develop new skills and attend relevant training or study days. Keep current with national developments in cellular therapy, transplant regulation and standards such as FACT JACIE. Assist in developing training programs for staff on quality standards. Provide training on electronic quality management systems and control software. Person Specification Qualifications (Essential) Degree level or equivalent specialised professional knowledge. Evidence of continuing professional development. Qualifications (Desirable) Post Graduate Qualification. Experience (Essential) Demonstrable success in a healthcare organisation, including: Risk management Audit experience Data collection, use and analysis Incident management Experience (Desirable) Experience of Quality Improvement. Skills (Essential) Problem‑solving and initiative to effect change. Cross‑disciplinary teamwork across professional and organisational boundaries. Organisational skills with ability to problem‑solve, negotiate and prioritise under tight deadlines. Excellent verbal, reporting and presentation skills. Solid IT skills, particularly intermediate Microsoft Excel. Reasoned advice and support provision. Ability to evaluate evidence and make independent, reasoned decisions.
