The ideal volunteer will have : An interest in charity retail Interest in vintage, collectable or pre-loved products A willingness to help and make a difference Be able to work with a team A friendly and helpful nature The ability to listen to and take instructions A commitment to the ethos of The Salvation Army Duties Researcher – Items to be researched using eBay / Google lens etc, to see if they are worth listing on eBay or should be sold in the shop / Donation Centre Information gathering – You will collate the item information, such as item title, description, measurements etc. I.T and / or logged in a book. Photography – Do you like photography? You don’t need to be an expert and suitable and efficient equipment will be supplied for your role. Lister – Someone who can input the photos and information into the software. This is the more technical part of the role and full training will be given. Packer / Dispatcher – You will have to follow up great customer service by wrapping, packing and applying a shipping label to complete the customer experience. How we can help our volunteers : Give skills, training and experience of working within a retail environment that could assist with future job searches The opportunity of developing new skills and the chance to utilise existing skills The ability to be part of a shop team and to make new friends Build confidence Support from our divisional Salvation Army colleagues in times of need, if required This role is an unpaid role but reasonable travel expenses will be paid in line with the volunteer expense policy, along with 25% discount on all purchases.
