A meaningful role helping individuals through the PIP assessment process Full training and ongoing support Clear career progression into roles such as Clinical Coach, Trainer, or Clinical Manager Improved work‑life balance and continued professional development As a Functional Assessor, you’ll conduct assessments and produce fair, evidence‑based reports for individuals applying for Personal Independence Payment (PIP), as part of the DWP’s Health Assessment and Advisory Service (HAAS). Please note: We are currently hiring for our February 2026 cohort, as all positions for the January intake have now been filled. Position details: Salary: £40,000.00 Type: Permanent (Hybrid role) Full time: 40 hours (Mon – Fri from 8:30 am – 5 pm) Location: Bury St. Edmunds (You MUST be located within a 90‑minute radius of the site to be considered for this role). As a Functional Assessor, you will play a crucial role in interviewing claimants to understand the challenges they face. You will carry out detailed assessments through telephone, video, or face‑to‑face appointments to understand how a claimant’s disability, condition, or illness affects their ability to carry out everyday activities in a respectful, fair, and reassuring manner. Analyse information critically to create accurate and concise reports. Interpret clinical information and evidence. Maintain professional standards in written communication and adherence to code of conduct. Provide positive experiences for claimants and colleagues, meeting quality and productivity targets. Requirements A minimum of 1 year of clinical experience as a qualified healthcare professional (listed below). An ability to demonstrate a broad clinical knowledge. Previous experience in using computer software including Microsoft Office.
