OverviewThe Chief Scientific Officer RWE is responsible for shaping and executing the scientific strategy and methodology and providing a “science first” approach to commercialization and business development. This role reports to Lumanity’s Global RWE lead.We welcome applications from candidates located in Germany and the Netherlands.ResponsibilitiesEssential Duties / Responsibilities :Serve as the scientific ambassador of RWE both as an internal and external thought leader. Serve as scientific lead for collaborations, seek and nurture relationships with regulatory and HTA authorities and organizations, provide guidance on scientific matters, lead and collaborate on market-shaping thought leadershipChampion the scientific expertise of the RWE practice across other areas of the business and foster collaboration on key projectsWork alongside practice and commercial leaders to champion innovation and shape the strategy for prioritization, development and dissemination of innovative methods, capabilities and offeringsEnhance the team’s capabilities and commercial impact by continuously monitoring the external environment, particularly the evolving regulatory landscape and sharing relevant insights to help inform RWE strategy for deeper alignment with the shifting payer environment. Leverage deep understanding of client needs, built through strong and sustained relationships, to inform strategic direction and identify growth opportunitiesDevelop commercial objectives and strategy by collaborating with leaders within RWE to identify and pursue new PASS / PAES opportunities, expand client base and secure long-term partnerships.Support RWE business development for new clients to Lumanity and support the creation and delivery of proposals (from a scientific assessment standpoint, focusing on methodology and content) and pitches.Set and help RWE research staff achieve thought leadership goalsCoordinate external RWE thought leadership pieces (white papers and webinars) and conference presentations and attendanceSupport development of future RWE leaders through formal or informal mentorshipCollaborate with research team and central quality management team to optimize processes and policies and ensure alignment with relevant best industry RWE practicesPlay an active role in the RWE Leadership TeamEnsure all teams have supports in place to maintain high levels of scientific knowledge and expertiseAdditional responsibilities as assigned or as specified / agreed in annual objectives.QualificationsRequired Education / Skills / Experience :Minimum of 15 years of relevant capability experience across the consulting, industry and / or academic settingPhD degree in pharmacoepidemiology from a recognized, accredited institution requiredSubstantial experience in teaching and / or presenting workshops, podiums and poster sessions to external audiencesEvidence of significant scientific contribution to the field of RWE through publication / presentation recordStrong written and verbal communication skills; ability to effectively communicate concepts and ideas to technical and non-technical audiencesDecisive, persuasive, flexible, analytical and deadline orientedMaintains a positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in a manner that fosters cooperation and teamworkRole models our diversity, equity and inclusion ethos in all interactions, internally and externally.Approximate Contribution %, flexible depending on business needsStrategy development – 15%Scientific support to staff / thought leadership – 35%Business development – 40%RWE / cross-Lumanity initiatives – 10%Billable time – 25%Core Competencies :Problem Solving : Collaborates effectively to resolve problems by presenting solutions rather than simply identifying issues.
