OverviewAn exciting opportunity has arisen to join the UKRI Strategic Financial Planning team in the role of Head of Management Reporting. This is a high profile and critical role in a dynamic and fast paced environment with regular engagement and interaction with senior management including the UKRI Finance Director, CFO, CEO and Executive Committee (ExCo) amongst others. This post would suit a high-reaching and driven individual with a strong commitment to the provision of high-quality financial reporting and to continuous improvement.Reporting to the UKRI Deputy Director for Strategic Financial Planning, the successful candidate will be central to ensuring UKRI delivers within its financial management target of no overspend and no less than 1% underspend. The role includes leading the enhancement of the current management reporting model, managing in-year financial risks and opportunities, and transitioning from manual processes to a single integrated system-based solution using Oracle Fusion Cloud Applications and complementary tools. ResponsibilitiesLead the Central Management Reporting team, developing strong relationships with key stakeholders across Finance, DSIT and other government departments where required.Demonstrate effective leadership to motivate and develop team members, with clear objectives and performance reviews.Promote a one-team approach and encourage continuous improvement.Develop a strong understanding of UKRI’s entities and cost drivers to provide effective challenge and support when building budgets and forecasts, including in-year OpEx and ARA reporting.Harmonise and standardise reporting across entities, developing processes to produce the UKRI Management Reporting Pack and internal Allocations.Maintain awareness of strategic financial risks, pressures and opportunities to support informed decision-making with the Financial Planning Team.Ensure deadlines for UKRI financial management are met and identify trends in data to inform management reporting.Collaborate with the Head of Finance Data and Systems to improve reporting capabilities, enabling automation and a single version of the truth.Review outputs for relevance, accuracy and completeness to meet stakeholder needs.Ensure appropriate cover for all key activities and implement process improvements using internal/external feedback and risk registers.Contribute as a subject matter expert to function-wide project and change activities, including post-live optimisation of Oracle Fusion and rollout of self-service reporting to budget-holders. Person specificationThe below criteria will be scored during Shortlisting (S), Interview (I) or both (S&I).EssentialQualified Accountant or working towards qualification (ACA/CIMA/ACCA/CIPFA or international equivalent).Strong understanding of accounting and finance with experience in senior finance roles and delivering effective financial management.Strong leadership with the ability to engage and empower colleagues through change.Highly numerate with the ability to provide insightful analysis using reliable systems and Excel models, and to influence decision making.Ability to establish relationships with senior collaborators and influence them with credibility.Experience balancing conflicting demands of partners and working to tight deadlines.Clear relationship management and influencing skills to instil confidence in stakeholders.Excellent written and oral communication skills.Personal resilience with a confident approach to solving issues and delivering solutions.Ability to remain calm under pressure and make impartial judgements.Aptitude for continuous improvement, innovation, and practical application of ideas to inspire change.Good organisational skills with the ability to deliver at pace and adapt to changing priorities.Ability to maintain focus on the bigger picture.For further information, please review the UKRI Finance brochure.
