Sewerage Technical Advisor - 32397 Environment Agency The Environment Agency is fully committed to having an inclusive workforce that reflects the communities we serve. Responsibilities Develop and support new regulatory approaches to sewerage companies, enabling strategic change in the way we regulate and work with these companies to deliver storm and emergency overflow improvement programmes. Apply expertise in building and using sewer hydraulic and modelling tools to inform sector guidance and assure programme delivery. Lead the development of audit processes for water quality investigations under the Storm Overflows Assessment Framework and Environment Act. Co‑develop training courses on Urban Pollution Management (UPM), respond to technical queries and coach staff on sewerage and water quality investigations. Participate in incident response or provide business continuity support when required, with optional incident role compensation and training. Collaborate with a dispersed team across the country, maintaining effective communication with internal and external customers. Experience and Skills Required Relevant degree in civil engineering, geography, environmental science or a comparable qualification, plus demonstrated professional experience. Experience of sewer hydraulic and/or river quality impact modelling for UPM studies, including model audits. Knowledge of environmental planning and the regulation of Water and Sewerage Companies. Excellent organisational skills, effective coaching, and the ability to embed new approaches into business operations. Prepared to travel occasionally or stay overnight for meetings; flexible office base location. Competencies Numerical Modelling and Forecasting: Interpret data and forecast environmental states, describe sewer/river quality impact models, audit processes, and problem resolution. Strategic Environment Planning: Deliver strategic plans for sustainable use, protection and improvement of the environment; summarise technical knowledge and impact on water quality. Coaching Others: Use direct instruction, coaching and feedback to develop others; provide example of capability enhancement and success measurement. Shapes Organisational Approach & Delivery: Inform policy and design operational activities; describe process development and embedding at organisational level.
