About the role We know that children looked after and care leavers often face unique challenges around emotional health and well‑being. To strengthen the support we provide, Bury Council has invested in creating two specialist Social Worker roles dedicated to this area. These roles are part of our commitment to delivering trauma‑informed, relationship‑based practice that helps young people build resilience and thrive. You will be part of an innovative approach where Social Workers work closely with a psychologist‑led team, ensuring that emotional health is at the heart of care planning. This means you’ll have access to expert guidance, reflective practice, and specialist training to enhance your skills and confidence in supporting children and young people. This role focuses on promoting and enhancing the emotional health and well‑being of Children Looked After and Care Leavers. You will deliver trauma‑informed, relationship‑based interventions that build resilience, self‑esteem, and coping strategies. Working closely with CAMHS, therapeutic services, and multi‑agency partners, you’ll make sure young people receive timely, coordinated support tailored to their needs. Your work will include Building trusting relationships with children and young people to understand their emotional needs. Undertaking holistic assessments and contributing to care and pathway planning. Advocating for emotional and mental health needs within multi‑agency forums. Providing advice and training to carers and professionals on trauma‑informed care. Promoting emotional literacy and psychological safety across care settings.
