Director of Sales We’re seeking an exceptional, results‑driven Director of Sales to shape and lead our Sales and M&E strategy — driving revenue growth, market share, and brand presence across our key segments: Meetings & Events Corporate Groups & Corporate Transient This is a senior commercial leadership opportunity for a dynamic sales professional with a powerful network, strong industry reputation, and a proven ability to deliver results at the highest level. As Director of Sales, you’ll set the strategic vision for our Sales and M&E teams — inspiring and empowering them to achieve excellence through collaboration, innovation, and a shared commitment to success. You’ll play a pivotal role in positioning The Grand, York as the destination of choice within both the York and UK City Centre luxury hotel markets. Key Responsibilities: Provide strategic leadership across Sales and M&E, aligning goals to maximise performance and revenue. Leverage an extensive network across Luxury Leisure Consortia, Incentive, M&E, and Corporate segments domestically and internationally. Lead on‑property sales teams, driving new business opportunities and growing market share with existing clients. Develop and execute competitive strategies to win business from competitors. Ensure seamless integration of proactive sales and M&E activities, fostering collaboration across teams. Partner with preferred global and regional teams to capture new business opportunities from key accounts. Act as a Splendid Hospitality Group ambassador, cross‑selling the portfolio. Represent SHG and The Grand York at domestic and international tradeshows, sales missions, and events. Provide oversight to ensure teams meet pipeline objectives and fully adopt Salesforce for transparent, data‑driven performance. Monitor industry trends and competitor activity. Collaborate with senior SHG leadership to drive commercial initiatives. Ensure rigorous ROI tracking and accurate reporting for all sales and event‑related investments. About You: You will have extensive experience in luxury or city‑centre hotel sales and M&E. Strong leadership and commercial acumen, with a track record of driving revenue growth. Skilled networker with experience across UK and international markets. A collaborative, strategic thinker able to inspire high‑performing teams.
