Our planning, engineering, environmental and management skills cover the whole project cycle. Overview of the Role Transport planning is a core service at Mott MacDonald. As a Transport Planner you’ll work in one of our northern offices to support the development of transport strategies, business cases and wider planning projects. You’ll collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, analyse data, contribute to reports and proposals, and attend client meetings. We seek someone with enthusiasm, analytical thinking, and a collaborative mindset. Candidate Specification Essential A strong interest in transport policy, strategy, business cases, placemaking, and sustainability. Degree in Transport Planning, Geography, Engineering, Economics, or Urban Planning. A member (or working towards membership) of a professional organisation such as CIHT, CILT, TPS or ICE. Demonstrable skills in transport policy and strategy, business cases, transport economics, scheme development and appraisal, or sustainable transport planning. Good report‑writing abilities. Strong quantitative and analytical capabilities, including manipulation and interpretation of transport and socio‑economic data using spreadsheets and other tools. Desirable MSc or post‑degree qualification in a transport‑related subject. Experience with mapping software packages and GIS skills. Interest or qualification in urban design and experience of working on major movement studies. Knowledge of the North‑West and/or North‑East regional transport market. Understanding of the Department for Transport’s Transport Analysis Guidance (TAG) and the Green Book.
