POST: Sustainability Coordinator REPORTS TO: Sustainability Lead DEPARTMENT: ESG ROLE DEFINITION The Sustainability Coordinator supports the delivery and advancement of sustainable practices across Phoenix ME’s projects and operations. This role involves developing a broad understanding of key sustainability principles, including green certifications, embodied carbon, waste, energy, and responsible sourcing. The Sustainability Coordinator will contribute to both project-specific outcomes and wider business initiatives, promoting innovation and helping to position Phoenix ME as an industry leader in climate action and sustainability. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Support project teams in meeting sustainability objectives, ensuring compliance with legal, client, and internal sustainability requirements throughout the project lifecycle. Assist in the development and implementation of project-specific carbon and sustainability strategies, including setting and tracking measurable outcomes. Contribute to the delivery of purpose‑led and measurable sustainability outcomes on projects, aligned with client expectations and Company sustainability goals. Collect and verify sustainability data from suppliers, subcontractors, and project teams to support internal reporting and client submissions. Support embodied carbon assessments for MEP systems, including data gathering and analysis using relevant tools and methodologies. Create and analyse thermal models, calculating operational energy consumption for projects where required. Conduct research into client sustainability requirements and tailor approaches to align with project‑specific goals and requirements. Conduct research into emerging sustainability trends, client requirements, and industry best practices to support continuous improvement and innovation within the business. Assist the SLT with understanding and shaping Phoenix ME’s internal ESG strategy. PERSON SPECIFICATION Essential: Prior experience in a similar role (e.g. Sustainability, Environmental Science, Engineering, Building Services). Excellent communication, presentation, and writing skills. Effective problem‑solving and organisational skills. Basic understanding of the construction industry and built environment. Ability to build strong relationships with stakeholders. Competent in MS 365 Suite, with strong administration and IT skills. Degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant field (e.g. Sustainability, Environmental Science, Engineering, Building Services or another related discipline). Knowledge of environmental design, environmental science and/or sustainability‑related disciplines. Knowledge of the building industry, sustainability and/or material science. Knowledge of electrical or mechanical design. Experience with planning, environmental impact assessments and/or wider sustainability legislation.
