Job Overview The Research Fellow (Health Economist) will work in partnership with economists, epidemiologists, mathematical modellers, and social scientists to evaluate public health interventions targeting infectious diseases. The role focuses on neglected tropical diseases (NTDs) in Africa and the Pacific, including cost‑effectiveness and budget impact assessments for mass drug administration regimens such as moxidectin for onchocerciasis and lymphatic filariasis. The Fellow will also evaluate financing mechanisms for sustainable NTD investment, collaborating closely with the Health Economics and Health Systems Research Group and global partners. Responsibilities Conduct economic evaluations and budget impact assessments of public health interventions. Lead or co‑lead economic evaluations alongside health intervention trials using STATA and/or R. Model long‑term health outcomes and costs of public health interventions. Ensure the quality, integrity, and security of project datasets. Assist in training and managing field teams in Australia and overseas. Communicate findings through project reports, conference presentations, and peer‑reviewed publications (including as lead author). Contribute to securing research funding and maintain strong research output. Essential Key Skills PhD in health economics, public health, economics, or a related field with substantial experience in designing or evaluating public health interventions. Experience in economic evaluation and budget impact assessment of public health interventions. Proficiency in STATA and/or R for statistical analysis. Expertise in modelling long‑term health outcomes and costs. Strong dataset management skills, ensuring quality and security. Capability to train and supervise field teams across multiple sites. Excellent communication skills for reporting, presentations, and publications. Proven research output and capability to attract research funding. Desired Key Skills Experience evaluating interventions targeting neglected tropical diseases. Experience working in low‑ and middle‑income countries or resource‑constrained settings.
