Clinical Research Fellow in Obstetrics

The study “Multi-modal studies to understand pregnancy and prevent stillbirth” is a multi-institutional programme of work led by Professor Alex Heazell. Dr Kate Duhig, who will be the primary supervisor of the research, leads an activity area as part of this programme which focuses on the evaluating magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) to predict adverse outcome in high-risk pregnancies. The successful applicant will work alongside other clinical research fellows within the centre with additional supervision provided by Professor Alex Heazell, Dr Jo Naish and Professor Ed Johnstone.

The purpose of the research is to:

- Utilise placental MRI to yield diagnostic and prognostic information in pregnancies at high risk of stillbirth
- Develop novel placental MRI biomarkers, and correlate these markers with downstream clinical outcomes
- Develop a scalable placental MRI protocol which can be translated to MRI scanners in a wide range of clinical settings.

An ability to work to deadlines, be task focused and demonstrate excellent organisational skills and confidence in dealing with multiple tasks within a multidisciplinary team will be necessary. Excellent team working and communication skills will also be required.
