Our client supplies a wide range of professional and retail environmental control products across the globe.

This can be a hybrid home / office role.

Due to Business Growth, they require an New Product Design / Specification & Testing Engineer to lead the technical activities relating to New Product Introduction (NPI).

Responsible for documentation and communication of technical specifications and testing of the NPI product portfolio, whilst ensuring the agreed specification meets legislative obligations and quality standards.

The Product Design Specification & Testing Engineer will also act as technical lead on Product Change projects and quality issue resolution. These vary but typically involve renewal of machine tools, resourcing current products and resolving recurring manufacturingdefects.

The key challenges of this position include:

- Quickly establishing product function and determining it is safe and fit for purpose
- Supporting the wider Technical, Purchasing, Sales & Marketing teams with product support
- Work with suppliers to resolve issues in a timely manner, with mínimal impact on the cost of goods and availability

The incumbent will require strong conviction in their working practice to coordinate the adherence to technical control processes but recognise the importance of products reaching the market place quickly and with the desired profit margin.
- Minimum 2 years working directly on product design, specification or testing, product or manufacturing environment.
- Working knowledge of common material properties and manufacturing methods.
- Familiar with Project Management and New Product Development principles.
- Capable of facilitating work with third parties to deliver testing, services etc.
- Ability to take ownership of product compliance record keeping and maintenance of technical files
- Self-motivated, agile and positive attitude
- Organised and detail oriented with excellent planning skills
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, interfacing and ability to present effectively.
- Ability to work to deadlines, delivering on time whilst also responding to ad-hoc opportunities
- Ability to work with multidisciplinary teams across the Group
- Competent in Microsoft Project, Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint

Desirable:

- Knowledge and experience of injection moulded components and assemblies.
- Working knowledge of electrical circuits and components.
- Experience of leading design or manufacturing projects from start to finish.
