This **Analytical Chemist** role is an extremely interesting one, allowing you to work on some incredibly novel technologies, including Biotech, Medical and Consumer devices.
The company (based on Cambridge Science Park) are currently expanding their state-of-the-art analytical labs and need a forward-thinking person to help with the design and setup of these facilities and subsequently manage their ongoing operation.
Along with the rest of this large and thriving organisation, this is a growing business area within fast-moving industries. Your skills and experience will be key to delivering interdisciplinary technology development projects, in collaboration with thewider scientific and engineering team.
It's a client facing role, where you will be the point of contact for a number of projects.
**The role, in a nutshell**:
- Responsibility for the analytical facility - including technician training, maintenance, calibrations and repairs.
- Method development for systems, including HPLC, LC-MS and GC-MS and other spectroscopic and analytical technologies
- Devise and arrange analytical programs with external analytical labs and third parties, when they cannot be carried out in-house
- Specify new equipment and facilities and integrate them into the project plan and budget
- Take part in concept generation and problem-solving workshops
- Clients interraction
- Hands-on, wet lab work, including researching and establishing new protocols
- Involvement through all stages of projects, from planning through to final analysis and iteration, including design, implementation, and evaluation of experimental programmes
**What do you need to apply?**
- **First class degree** in a physical science, biological science, or similar
- Ability to manage evolving lab facilities, ensuring projects run successfully
- Effective communication skills, particularly in conveying complex concepts to others
- Data analysis and management skills along with presentation skills
- The mindset to continuously improve the facility, increasing efficiency and improving workflows
- Able to solve complex problems in collaboration with the wider technical team
- Previous experience of using analytical methods for the characterisation of biological systems including proteomics and metabolomics would be very useful
