Our mission is to create novel small molecule degraders of protein aggregates to cure neurodegenerative diseases. TRIMTECH Therapeutics has recently raised $31 million in an oversubscribed seed financing round and is now expanding its team (press release). 

We are seeking a highly skilled and enthusiastic medicinal chemist to support our drug discovery efforts. The role is office based (at least 3 days a week) and requires working closely with our internal chemistry and biology teams, third party CROs, to design and oversee the synthesis and biological characterisation of our small molecule degraders.  You will: 

  • Play a key role in the medicinal chemistry team, helping to build a vibrant R&D group  
  • Implement modern techniques to drive drug design, positively impacting progression of medicinal chemistry programs 
  • Collaborate with third party CROs and consultants, solving medicinal and synthetic challenges, to enable timely execution of project activities 
  • Record and analyse all relevant project data  
  • Collaborate across-functions in the Design-Make-Test-Analyse cycles

Key requirements  

  • PhD in a chemical science related discipline (or a MSc with subsequent equivalent industry experience), followed by 3 or more years' experience in a drug discovery environment with a track record of significant achievements  
  • Demonstrated ability to work creatively to solve medicinal chemistry challenges and synthetic problems 
  • Excellent communication skills, working collaboratively across disciplines to impact drug discovery programs 
  • Understanding of target protein degradation as therapeutic modality, with its challenges and opportunities 
  • A keen interest in maintaining awareness of advances in synthetic chemistry and drug design  
  • Must be a team player, have a "can do attitude" and be fun to work with  

 Desirable Skills and Attributes (one or more of these is desirable, but not essential) 

  • A strong interest in biology and/or chemical biology  
  • Experience in structure-based drug design and the use of biophysical methods in drug discovery 
  • Experience with electronic databases such as CDD Vault  
  • Experience with computational chemistry and data analytics (workflow) platforms 
  • Experience directing one or more CROs though synthetic challenges to deliver to ambitious project timelines. 
  • Experience in property-based drug design
