Job Description

As a Director - Sales, you will be responsible for the leadership, management and profitability of an assigned sales region, market, or channel. You will be accountable for achieving sales and profitability goals through direction, organization, coordination, communication and development of field sales, inside sales, and other sales professionals.

Responsibilities:

  1. Develops and administers sales plan to ensure customer satisfaction, assigned quota attainment, and highly skilled and motivated staff.
  2. Achieves annual sales and gross profit plan by implementing sales strategies and analyzing trends and results in conjunction with regional and business unit management team.
  3. Establishes sales objectives.
  4. Forecasts expected sales volume and profit for existing and new product lines and customers.
  5. Ensures establishment and expansion of national, regional, and local supplier relationships.
  6. Maintains sales volume, product mix, and selling price by keeping current with market supply and demand, changing trends, economic indicators, and competitors.
  7. Coordinates order service by directing account representatives on quotations, proposals, project order management techniques, and customer complaint resolution.
  8. Maintains sales staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees.
  9. Maintains sales staff results by counseling and disciplining employees, planning, monitoring, and appraising job results.
  10. Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, and participating in professional societies.
  11. Forecasts and communicates intricate details to senior management.

Qualifications:

  1. High School Degree or Equivalent required; Bachelor's Degree - Sales, Business Administration, Engineering, or relevant field preferred
  2. 7+ years of related industry professional sales
  3. 5+ years of experience leading and managing staff and programs at national, district or regional level
  4. Working knowledge of business and management principles, including strategic planning, resource allocation, leadership techniques, and coordination of people and resources
  5. Demonstrated ability to analyze, initiate and implement sales strategies to achieve forecasted goals
  6. Understands competitive landscape, market insights and effectively communicates across key internal and external stakeholders
  7. Proven success in providing customer and personal services, including customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction
  8. Strong verbal, written, analytical, persuasion and interpersonal skills
  9. Ability to exercise teamwork, leadership, and flexibility
  10. Excellent time management and computer skills
  11. Ability to travel 25% - 50%

Working Environment: Outside Sales - Work is generally performed in an office environment, but employee may need to travel to customer sites or warehouse facilities. Driving may be required for an extended period of time with frequent stops and starts. Can be exposed to outdoor weather conditions.
