About Hometree
Join Hometree Group and be at the forefront of transforming the residential energy landscape. Founded in 2015, Hometree began its journey in the home cover market. Today, we are spearheading the shift towards a future where home energy systems are decentralised, digitised, and reliant on renewable sources such as heat pumps, solar panels, batteries, EV chargers, and smart controls. This innovative approach is not just about sustainability; it's about empowering homeowners to manage their energy more efficiently and cost-effectively, thereby setting new standards in energy consumption.
We operate across three dynamic divisions:
- Financial Services: Here, you'll contribute to offering flexible financing options that make it feasible for homeowners to embrace renewable energy technologies and make essential upgrades.
- Energy Services: Be part of our extensive network of local installation businesses that equip homeowners with the cutting-edge, sustainable energy solutions necessary for reaching net-zero emissions.
- Home Services: Help maintain the comfort and functionality of homes with comprehensive coverage plans that protect the essential hardware in the home.
At Hometree Group, we are committed to guiding UK homeowners on their journey towards more sustainable energy solutions, and we need passionate individuals to support them at every step. Join us during this exciting time and play a pivotal role in a business that supports sustainable homeownership in alignment with their readiness and needs.
Key Achievements
- £85m+ Capital Raised: We've raised over £85m to date from leading global investors including Legal & General Capital and specialist energy VCs.
- 5 Acquisitions: We've expanded our operations by acquiring four key companies across financing (Hometree Finance - formerly Bewarm), home cover (Your Repair), and energy services (Geowarmth, The Little Green Energy Company, and IMS).
- 100k Homes Covered: We cover over one hundred thousand homes across the UK.
- 250+ Employees: We have over 250 passionate employees transforming the industry across the Group, one home at a time.
The Role
Join us as a Business Development Manager at Hometree Finance—the branch of Hometree dedicated to helping customers find flexible financing for home energy upgrades. In this role, you'll be responsible for identifying and building relationships with new business partners in the renewable energy sector, particularly in solar. You will proactively present Hometree Finance's products, negotiate deals, and close business agreements, ensuring both customer satisfaction and business growth. You'll manage the full sales pipeline, from lead generation to post-sale performance, while collaborating closely with internal teams to align on strategy and goals. Your insights into market trends and customer needs will guide the development of new business opportunities, helping us meet and exceed sales targets in a rapidly evolving market.
Responsibilities:
- Identify New Renewable Business Partners: Proactively research and identify potential business partners in the renewable energy sector to create new opportunities for collaboration and growth.
- Present Hometree Finance Products: Effectively present Hometree Finance's products and services to prospective partners, demonstrating value and alignment with their needs and goals.
- Close Deals and Negotiate Agreements: Lead the negotiation process, close business deals, and ensure mutually beneficial terms that contribute to business growth and customer satisfaction.
- Manage the Sales Pipeline: Oversee the entire sales process from lead generation to deal closure, ensuring timely follow-ups, accurate reporting, and smooth transitions.
- Understand Market Trends and Customer Needs: Stay informed about industry trends, competitor activity, and emerging customer needs to tailor business strategies and product offerings.
- Collaborate with Internal Teams: Work closely with marketing, product, and operations teams to ensure alignment on messaging, product updates, and customer feedback.
- Achieve Sales and Revenue Targets: Consistently meet or exceed individual and team sales targets by managing key accounts and driving revenue growth within the renewable sector.
- Monitor Post-Deal Performance: Track and analyse the performance of closed deals to ensure that customer expectations are met and address any issues that arise post-sale.
- Report on Sales Metrics and Forecasting: Provide regular updates on sales progress, forecasts, and key performance indicators to leadership, ensuring transparency and strategic alignment.
What we're looking for:
- Proven Track Record in New Business: At least 5 years of experience in business development, with a strong history of successfully acquiring new clients and closing deals.
- Solar Experience: Previous experience working within the solar energy industry, with a solid understanding of the technology and market dynamics.
- Market Knowledge: Deep understanding of the solar market, including trends, key players, and customer needs, to drive strategic decision-making.
- Strong Communication Skills: Ability to clearly and persuasively communicate with stakeholders at all levels, both in writing and verbally.
- Negotiation Expertise: Skilled in negotiating terms and closing deals that benefit both parties while maintaining strong relationships.
- Problem-Solving Ability: Creative and resourceful in overcoming challenges and finding solutions that meet both client and company needs.
- Analytical Skills: Capable of analysing market trends, customer data, and sales metrics to inform business strategies and decision-making.
- Time Management and Organisation: Strong organisational skills to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Adaptability: Flexible in adjusting to market changes, new challenges, and evolving business needs.
Extra Credit:
- Finance Industry Experience: Previous experience within the finance sector, with a strong understanding of financial products, regulations, and market dynamics.
Our Recruitment Process:
- Initial Call: Start with an introductory call with our Junior Talent Acquisition Specialist to discuss the role and your potential fit. (30 mins)
- Skills-Based Interview: Engage in a detailed discussion about your past experiences with our Director of Business Development. (1 hr)
- Task Stage: Present a task to our Director of Business Development and one of the Account Managers (1 hr)
- Values/Final Interview: A Values Based Interview with Hometree Finance's co-managing directors. (40 mins)
Perks of the job:
- 25 days holiday plus bank holidays and your birthday.
- Free boiler & home emergency cover with Hometree plus 40% discount for friends & family.
- Discounted gym membership across over 100 UK gyms (independent and chains) and free fitness, wellness, and nutrition apps.
- £300 Home office allowance.
- Support for your mental health and wellbeing via Oliva.
- Menopause support from Stella, including friends & family access.
- Cycle to work scheme.
- Regular team socials including Summer and Winter parties.

As a regulated financial services organisation, we operate under the strict guidelines and regulations set forth by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA). We are committed to maintaining the highest standards of integrity and professionalism in all aspects of our business.
As a prospective member of our team, you will be expected to fully embrace and adhere to the FCA Code of Conduct obligations.
