With continued growth and a focus on improving financial performance. Seeking an experienced Senior Credit Controller to join their finance team in Caerphilly. This is a temporary position with a strong possibility of becoming permanent for the right candidate.Role OverviewThe Senior Credit Controller will be responsible for managing the full credit control function, driving the timely collection of payments, improving cash flow, and maintaining strong relationships with clients. This role requires a confident communicator, a proactive approach to problem-solving, and a keen eye for detail.The position suits a self-motivated individual who thrives in a fast-paced, service-led environment and who can take ownership of the credit control process from end to end.Key ResponsibilitiesManage and oversee the company's debtor ledger, ensuring timely collection of outstanding invoices.Conduct regular reviews of aged debt reports and proactively chase overdue accounts.Build and maintain strong relationships with customers to resolve billing and payment queries quickly and professionally.Liaise with internal teams (sales, operations, and finance) to resolve disputes and ensure smooth invoice processing.Monitor customer credit limits and assess credit risk in line with company policy.Prepare weekly cash collection forecasts and debtor reports for management.Escalate problematic accounts appropriately and support decision-making on bad debt provisions.Support month-end processes, including reconciliations and reporting on debtor performance.Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy within the credit control function.Mentor or support junior members of the finance team if required.Qualifications & ExperienceProven experience as a Credit Controller or Senior Credit Controller within a service-based or contract-led environment.Strong understanding of credit management principles, cash flow, and debtor reporting.Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to manage challenging conversations professionally.Experience using accounting or ERP systems (e.g., Sage, SAP, Oracle, or similar).High level of accuracy, attention to detail, and organisational skills.Confident working independently and managing a busy workload to deadlines.Intermediate to advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, reporting).
