A supportive specialist provision in Durham is looking for an SEN Teacher to start immediately who can bring clarity, patience, and creativity to the classroom. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys thinking differently, adapting lessons to individual needs, and building strong, trusting relationships with pupils who learn best with personalised support.About the role You’ll be teaching a small group of pupils with a range of Special Educational Needs, including social, emotional, and communication needs. Your focus will be on creating engaging lessons that meet pupils where they are and help them move forward at a pace that feels right for them.What you’ll be doing: Planning and delivering tailored lessons that support individual learning goals Using structured routines, visual supports, and personalised strategies Working alongside TAs to create a calm, well-organised classroom environment Supporting pupils with emotional regulation, confidence, and independence Liaising with the SENCO, therapists, and parents to ensure joined-up support Celebrating small steps and steady progress What the school provides A nurturing environment with a team who genuinely understand SEND Guidance from experienced leaders and access to specialist resources Space to experiment with creative teaching approaches Regular opportunities for training and reflective practice What you’ll need QTS Experience teaching in a classroom setting Understanding of SEND approaches or a willingness to learn A calm, flexible attitude and strong communication skills If this sounds like the kind of role where you could make a real impact, I can talk you through available SEN settings in Durham and help you take the next step.
