ABC Teachers is looking for skilled SEN Learning Support Assistant to join a specialist SEN School in Birmingham on a full-time basis. About the role Work confidently with pupils with SEMH needs, offering calm, consistent support and helping to create a positive learning environment. Build professional, trusting relationships with students to better understand their unique needs and how to support them effectively in school. Assist the class teacher with the delivery of engaging, structured lessons, and provide targeted support in small groups or 1:1 as needed. Help assess and monitor student progress, using baseline data and existing assessments to guide support strategies. Support pupils in developing emotional regulation, resilience, and confidence - helping them re-engage with education at their own pace. About the school The school supports pupils in Years 7–9 who are currently unable to access mainstream education due to complex SEMH needs. With smaller class sizes, the school creates a calm and focused learning environment where support is personalised to each student’s needs, interests, and abilities. Offers a broad and balanced curriculum, taught by subject specialists and supported by skilled staff who work together to meet every child where they are. The school’s approach is holistic and inclusive – prioritising emotional wellbeing, high aspirations, safety, and a sense of belonging for every student. Based in Birmingham, the school is easily accessible from Coventry, Worcester, and surrounding areas. Requirements To be considered for the role of SEN Learning Support Assistant you will: Have previous experience working with children and young people with a range of special educational needs, such as learning difficulties, autism, and sensory needs.Suitable qualifications such as Youth Work, Health and Social Care or Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools are desired but not essential.Have strong communications skills with the ability to quickly build rapport with students.Able to obtain suitable references and a DBS check. Salary is dependent on experience, training or qualifications. The minimum experience, training or qualifications required for this position are: At least two years of experience supporting people with special educational needs.
