Learning Support Mentor – Scarborough (SEND/SEMH) Do you have a passion for supporting young people who need patience, encouragement, and someone firmly on their side? We’re working with a specialist SEND/SEMH school in Scarborough that is seeking a dedicated Learning Support Mentor to join their team as soon as possible. This is a full-time, long-term role with strong potential to become permanent — ideal for anyone who wants to build a rewarding and stable career in special education. Location: Scarborough Pay: £–£17 per hour Start Date: ASAP Contract: Full-time, long-term (potential permanent offer) Your Key ResponsibilitiesProvide 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with a range of SEND and SEMH needsBuild positive, trusting relationships that help students feel safe and understoodEncourage engagement in learning, therapeutic sessions, and structured routinesSupport emotional regulation through trauma-informed and restorative approachesUse positive behaviour strategies to guide pupilsWork collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, and pastoral teamsHelp create a nurturing, inclusive environment where learners can flourishWhy This Role Stands Out25+ specialist CPD courses available (SEMH, Autism, Behaviour, Safeguarding & more)Weekly pay, referral bonuses, and long-term placement stabilityOpportunities across 120+ provisions, including PRUs, APs, and specialist schoolsClear development pathways into Behaviour Mentor, Pastoral Officer, or SEN Specialist rolesOngoing support from a dedicated education consultantStrong potential for a permanent positionWho We’re Looking For This role is ideal for anyone with experience in: SEND or SEMH support Youth work, care, or mentoring Mental health services Behaviour support Sports coaching or community projects Most importantly, we’re looking for someone empathetic, resilient, and committed to helping young people grow and succeed.
