Learning Support Assistant (SEND / SEMH) – Scarborough Location: Scarborough Pay: Competitive / Dependent on experience and qualifications Contract: Long-term, term-time (Temporary to permanent for the right candidate) Role: Learning Support Assistant – Primary & Secondary About the Role We are recruiting on behalf of a specialist provision in the Scarborough area that supports students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. This role will see you working across primary and secondary age groups, supporting students in the classroom and in targeted interventions. As a Learning Support Assistant, you will help deliver high-quality support to children with SEMH challenges and work closely with teachers and other LSAs to create a positive, safe learning environment. Key ResponsibilitiesProvide 1:1 and small-group support to students with SEMH / SEND needsAssist teachers in the delivery of learning activities and interventionsSupport positive behaviour management and help implement behaviour plansEncourage social, emotional, and academic developmentWork collaboratively with other LSAs and classroom staffHelp monitor and record student progress and report any safeguarding concernsPromote a calm, inclusive, and supportive learning environmentPerson Specification / RequirementsPrevious experience as an LSA or supporting children with SEMH / SEND is desirable, but not essentialLSA qualification (Level 2 or Level 3) is preferred, or willingness to work toward accreditationAbility to build positive relationships with young people and staffUnderstanding of safeguarding and child protection requirementsPatient, flexible, and resilient, with a calm approach under pressureAbility to work as part of a team and follow classroom routinesWillingness to obtain an enhanced DBS checkWhy This Role Is GreatAccess to 25 accredited CPD courses (Autism, Team Teach, Trauma-Informed Practice & more)Weekly pay with referral and loyalty bonusesOpportunities across 120 schools and specialist provisionsClear career progression pathways into specialist SEN, behaviour, or mental health rolesOngoing support from a dedicated education consultantReal potential to secure a permanent position — temporary to permanent for the right candidateHow to Apply Please send your CV and a short covering letter (explaining your experience and interest in SEMH / SEND) to: Use the subject line: LSA – Scarborough (SEMH) Safeguarding & Diversity Castle Education is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
