Job Description VP of Engineering — AI (Hands-On) | London (4-5 days/week) | Up to £160k + Equity Priority Hire – Initially 80% Hands-On, 20% Team Leadership, progressing to CTO. A fast-growing Proptech scale-up is seeking a highly technical, hands-on VP of Engineering to lead the development of next-generation AI-powered SaaS platforms. This is not a traditional executive role: they need a candidate who currently codes. The role will start 80% hands-on, making it ideal for someone with a proven track record of delivering AI products end-to-end. The AI VP of Engineering will: Lead the technical design, development, and delivery of AI products, including LLM, RAG, and multi-agent systems. Collaborate closely with Product and Design to build scalable, high-performance AI-powered SaaS platforms. Be hands-on with coding (~80%), while mentoring and guiding a small AI engineering team (~20%). Influence technology strategy and shape scalable architectures for future growth. Requirements: Exceptional Python skills and strong experience with Node.js. Proven hands-on AI product delivery, with explicit examples of work shipped, role in the stack, and technical proof-points. Experience with startups or scale-ups; entrepreneurial mindset preferred. Previous founders highly valued. Comfortable in fast-paced, high-growth environments; self-starter mentality. Degree in Computer Science or related field from a top 100 global university.
