The company values hard work, trust, and a down-to-earth attitude - and offers a supportive culture where people stay long term.The OpportunityDue to maternity leave, the company is seeking an Accounts Assistant to join their small finance team on a fixed-term basis for a minimum of nine months. You'll work closely with the Finance Director and play a key role in managing the day-to-day finance operations.This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys a varied, all-round finance role within an SME setting and takes pride in ensuring things run smoothly behind the scenes.Key ResponsibilitiesProcessing and managing purchase ledger transactionsSupporting credit control activities and issuing customer statementsManaging weekly and monthly payroll, including commission calculationsPerforming bank reconciliations, maintaining cash books, and managing petty cashPreparing weekly finance overview sheets and assisting with month-end tasksSupporting with credit notes and damaged goods claimsUsing Sage for accounting and an internal retail system (training provided)Occasional office management duties, including stationery and spend controlAbout YouWe're looking for someone who brings both experience and energy - someone who thrives in a varied role where no two days are the same.Essential skills and experience:Proven experience in an Accounts Assistant or similar all-round finance roleProficient in Sage accounting softwareExperience across purchase ledger, credit control, and payrollExcellent attention to detail and organisational skillsStrong interpersonal skills with a proactive and resilient approachDesirable:Experience working in a retail, construction, or small business environmentKnowledge of commission-based payrollWhat's on OfferSalary up to £32,000 depending on experience28 days annual leave (including bank holidays)Pension scheme via Royal LondonSupportive and close-knit working environmentHands-on onboarding and mentorship from the Finance Director Interested?If you're available within the next month and have solid experience as a Finance/Accounts Assistant, we'd love to hear from you.
