Learning Support Assistant – Northumberland Title: Learning Support Assistant Location: Northumberland - Blyth/Cramlington Contract Type: Term-time, permanent or long-term fixed term Hours: Full-time or part-time consideredAbout the Role We are seeking a Learning Support Assistant to join a specialist setting in Northumberland, supporting pupils with a variety of additional needs including autism, speech and language difficulties, and social, emotional, or mental health needs. You’ll play a key role in helping pupils engage with learning, develop independence, and feel supported in all areas of school life.Key Responsibilities Provide one-to-one and small-group support to help pupils reach their learning targets Use communication aids, visual supports, and structured routines to promote understanding Assist teachers with lesson preparation and classroom organisation Support pupils with personal care and emotional regulation when needed Contribute to individual progress reports and behaviour support plans Person Specification Experience working with SEND pupils or in a classroom support role desirable Nurturing, patient, and resilient approach Strong communication and teamwork skills Flexible and motivated to learn new strategies Committed to safeguarding and inclusive practice What We Offer Full induction and regular training Supportive, friendly staff team and welcoming school culture Consistent term-time hours and fair pay Opportunity to make a meaningful difference every day All applicants will require the appropriate qualifications and training for this role.
