School Caretaker Milk Education is recruiting a purpose-driven, reliable Facilities Assistant with a focus on Health & Safety to join an SEN school in Solihull, starting in January, working on a long-term basis. This is an exciting role for new or experienced facilities staff to join a fantastic school and ensure a safe, well-maintained environment that supports pupils to thrive Key Responsibilities: • Carry out daily site checks, including classrooms, therapy spaces, playgrounds, and specialist areas. • Assist with minor repairs, decorating, and general maintenance tasks to ensure a safe and functional school environment. • Support health and safety compliance, including fire safety checks, risk assessments, and equipment inspections. • Assist with opening and securing the site, monitoring visitor access, and maintaining security systems. • Support cleaning and hygiene standards across the school, including safe disposal of waste. • Help set up classrooms, therapy rooms, and events safely, considering pupils’ individual needs. • Report and record incidents, maintenance issues, and health & safety concerns promptly. Essential Qualifications: • Relevant experience in facilities, site management, or maintenance roles. • Understanding of health & safety requirements in educational or similar settings. • Reliable, trustworthy, and proactive approach to work. • Ability to work safely around children with a range of special educational needs. • Good communication skills and the ability to follow guidance from the Facilities Manager or school leadership. • Patient, calm, and attentive attitude when working around vulnerable pupils.
