Job Title: Electrical Assembly EngineerLocation: NorwichRate: £37 - £48 per hour (Outside IR35)Engagement Type: Ltd Company or UmbrellaContract Length: 2-month contractStart Date: 18th AugustHours: 37.5 hours per weekOverviewAn opportunity has arisen for an experienced Electrical Assembly Engineer to support the development and build of a prototype utility-scale Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) using second-life EV batteries. This role is hands-on and ideal for someone who thrives in a dynamic, project-driven environment. The successful candidate will have experience in panel building, system integration, and LV testing, and will play a key part in a cross-functional engineering team.ResponsibilitiesAssemble electrical sub-assemblies and control panels from engineering drawings and documentationRoute, secure and terminate wiring looms and harnesses across enclosures and systemsInstall both electrical and mechanical sub-assemblies, including heavy industrial componentsAssist in offline and live system testing, ensuring compliance with quality and safety standardsTroubleshoot and resolve faults, providing feedback for design improvementCollaborate with design and engineering teams to support successful integration and commissioningManage stock and selection of components during assemblyMaintain clear and accurate records in line with quality assurance processesOperate safely in a shared workshop, including using forklifts or acting as a banksman if requiredKey InterfacesTest & AssemblyElectrical & Mechanical DesignControls and SoftwareSupply ChainHealth & SafetyEssential Skills & ExperienceSolid experience in electrical panel building and system-level assemblyProficient in reading electrical schematics and wiring diagramsSkilled in using hand and power tools for electrical installationStrong problem-solving and fault-finding capabilitiesComfortable working collaboratively across technical and operational teamsFamiliar with quality inspection processes and documentationDesirable QualificationsLevel 2 or higher in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent)Experience in a production, industrial, or R&D environmentKnowledge of electrical safety standards and basic mechanical assembly practicesAdditional InformationPPE and tooling can be provided if requiredCandidates must be able to work independently and show initiative in a fast-paced setting
