As part of a large and complex government organisation, you will contribute to work that has a real impact on communities across the country.Role OverviewWe are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Finance Business Analyst to support financial planning, performance monitoring, and strategic decision-making. This role sits within the Finance Directorate and works closely with policy, operations, commercial, and senior leadership teams to ensure robust financial management and effective use of public funds.Key ResponsibilitiesConduct financial analysis to support operational planning and deliveryPrepare high-quality financial reports, dashboards, and briefings for senior leadersSupport annual budgeting, medium-term financial planning, and in-year forecastingAnalyse cost drivers, risks, and variances, proposing recommendations for improvementProvide business-partnering support to directorates across the organisationContribute to the development and review of business cases in line with HM Treasury Green Book guidance (or relevant national framework)Ensure compliance with financial policies, audit requirements, and governance standardsSupport continuous improvement initiatives across finance processes and systemsSkills & Experience RequiredDegree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business, or a related fieldProfessional qualification or part-qualification/QBE (e.g., CIMA, ACCA, CIPFA) is desirableExperience working in a finance, analysis, or business partnering role-public sector experience is an advantageStrong analytical and numerical skills with the ability to interpret complex dataProficiency in Excel and familiarity with financial or BI systems (e.g., Power BI)Excellent communication skills with the ability to present information clearly to non-financial stakeholdersStrong attention to detail, organisational capability, and commitment to high standards of accuracyAbility to work effectively in a large, multi-disciplinary organisation with competing prioritiesWhat We Offer:A competitive salary within the government pay structureCivil service pension scheme / public sector pension benefitsFlexible, hybrid working arrangementsAccess to professional development, training, and career progressionThe opportunity to contribute to work that makes a meaningful impact on the publicRobert Half Ltd acts as an employment business for temporary positions and an employment agency for permanent positions.
