Position: SEN Support Inclusion Worker for Early Years/KS1
Location: LS11

Role Overview

As a SEN Support Inclusion Worker, you will play a vital role in ensuring that all children, particularly those with special educational needs, feel supported and included in their educational journey. Working closely with teachers, SENCo, and other support staff, you will help create a positive and enabling environment for pupils with diverse needs.

Key Responsibilities

* Provide one-on-one or small-group support for pupils with SEN, promoting their independence and confidence.

* Assist in the delivery of tailored learning plans, interventions, and strategies as directed by the SENCo or class teacher.

* Promote inclusion by encouraging the participation of SEN pupils in all aspects of school life.

* Monitor and record progress, sharing observations with the wider team to inform future planning.

* Support the development of social, emotional, and communication skills for SEN pupils.

* Act as a positive role model, maintaining a nurturing and supportive approach.

* Assist in preparing resources and adapting classroom materials to suit individual needs.

* Liaise with parents, caregivers, and external professionals to provide a collaborative approach to supporting each child.

Essential Requirements

* Experience in early years education and a strong understanding of the EYFS curriculum.

* Supporting EAL and low-ability pupils to overcome learning barriers.

* Expertise in speech and language development, including phonics instruction and the use of PECs.

* Skilled in working with pupils with ASD and SEMH needs, providing tailored support to meet individual challenges.

* Patience, empathy, and the ability to build positive relationships with children and staff.

* Strong communication and organizational skills.

* Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.

Desirable Attributes

* Relevant qualifications in education or SEN (e.g., NVQ Level 3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning).

* Experience supporting children with specific needs such as ASD, ADHD, or speech and language difficulties.

* Knowledge of safeguarding and child protection procedures
