Weare looking for an enthusiastic haematologist to join the current paediatrichaematology consultants with a focus on malignant haematology and stem celltransplantation.If shortlisted, you will be required togive a 10-minute presentation on:What is the role of stemcell transplant now that innovative cellular therapies such as CART and genetherapy are available?INTERVIEWS WILL BE HELD VIA MS TEAMS:Thursday 30 January 2025 Main duties of the job Thesuccessful applicant should possess MB ChB or equivalent qualification andshould be included on the Specialist Register or within 6 months of CCT at thetime of interview, if currently within a training programme within the UK.
In accordance with the consultant appointmentregulations, all other categories of doctors must be on the SpecialistRegister.
Applicants should haveestablished skills in PaediatricHaematologyand its relatedspecialties including malignant haematology and stem cell transplantation.
Astrong commitment to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and a researchinterest is desirable.
Consideration will be given to applicantswho wish to work full or part time and those wishing to job share.

Financiallysustainable Job description Job responsibilities In relation to this post,we are looking for an enthusiastic haematologist to join the current paediatrichaematology consultants with a focus on malignant haematology and stem celltransplantation.
2.OBJECTIVESOF THE POSTTo provide, with consultant &multi-disciplinary colleagues in the paediatric haematology and oncology team,an emergency and elective regional service for children and young people withhaematological disorders, with particular responsibility for leukaemia and haematopoietic stem cell transplant.To share on-call responsibility with the otherconsultants in the paediatric haematology and oncology team.
This comprises anattending on call for the whole service and also a commitment to thenon-malignant haematology telephone advice on call rota if appropriatelytrained.
If the appointee is trained appropriately to join the non-malignanthaematology rota for telephone advice, then their attending on call commitmentwill be reduced.To provide advice and support to the otherpaediatric specialists in Leeds Childrens Hospital and to those caring forchildren and young people in other hospitals who refer to Leeds.To participate in the multi-professionalpaediatric clinical governance programmes, and clinical management meetings.
To participate in education, supervision, andtraining of junior medical staff.To participate in the active departmentalresearch programme and/or develop appropriate research interests that willbenefit the service.
To be responsible for the day-to-day care ofthe paediatric and young adult haematology inpatients with haematologicaldisorders, including leukaemia and those undergoing stem cell transplantationor receiving advanced cellular therapies.They will be supported in this by the paediatric haematologyconsultants, the paediatric haematology registrar, the adult haematologyregistrar, the paediatric haematology and oncology fellows, the haematology andstem cell transplant advanced and clinical nurse specialists and the paediatriconcology team.
To share responsibility for the generalanaesthetic lists which take place in the haematology day unit and in theatrecarrying out haematological procedures (typically lumbar punctures, bone marrowexaminations and bone marrow harvests) if these skills have been part of theirtraining.If the candidate has theFRCPath then they will also share the morphology reporting with the haematologyconsultants and haematology registrars.
Person Specification Management, Interpersonal Skills & Other Requirements Essential Understanding of current issues in the NHS.

*Demonstrate ability to relate to and work within a team.
*Hold full GMC Registration with a license to practice.
*Entry on the GMC Specialist Register via: -CCT (proposed CCT date must be within 6 months of interview) CESR (or) international applicants should comply with the GMC specialty registration process Desirable Attendance at recognised management course.
Qualifications Essential MB ChB or equivalent qualification.
Eligible for full registration with the GMC at time of appointment and hold a current licence to practice.
YOUR GMC NUMBER MUST BE STATED IN YOUR APPLICATION FORM TO BE CONSIDERED.
Eligibility to work in the UK.
Is up to date and fit to practise safely.
Desirable Relevant higher degree.
Experience Essential Must be able to demonstrate a high level of clinical experience and competence in Paediatric Haematology or Stem Cell Transplantation.
Specifically, must demonstrate higher specialist training in Haematology or Haemato Oncology.
Evidence of continuous career progression consistent with personal circumstances.
Training, Research, Teaching & Audit Essential Should have completed a recognised training programme in Paediatric Haematology or Oncology in the UK or an equivalent health care system.
Evidence of the ability to carry out medical research.
Experience in training undergraduate medical students and postgraduate doctors.
Experience of participation in regular clinical audit.
Desirable Previous experience of supervising research by junior staff.
Previous attendance on Appraisal Techniques and Small Group Teaching Workshops.
