Job summary An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Nurse Associate to join our small team of Special School Nurses, for a 12 month period.
This role involves close working with the children's community and learning disability nursing teams and is a great opportunity to develop your skills and knowledge.We are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated, hard working Nurse Associate who is passionate about working with children with Moderate to Severe and profound Learning Disabilities and complex health needs ensuring inclusion and accessibility in school.The team provides a high quality service to children during the school day and supports their families.
You will support individual children and families, attend multidisciplinary meetings, safeguarding meetings and liaise closely with other professionals so excellent communication skills are essential.This role is for 22 hours per week term time only (the paid hours equate to hours per week) and is to be worked over 3 days.
This service is term time only.
This is a community based role so daily access to your own vehicle is essential.
Main duties of the job Ideally you will have experience of working with Children and young people with Moderate to Severe and profound Learning Disabilities, complex health needs and experience in a community setting.You will be expected to assess children in the school setting, plan and deliver care in conjunction with children, young people and their parents/carers.You will be responsible for keeping all clinical and safeguarding records up to date and in line with NMC guidelines and responsible for maintaining high standards of care and practice.The team undertakes teaching and competencies for education staff members and supports medical clinics within schools.
You will contribute to the planning and delivery of these.As a member of this team you will be supported with regular clinical supervision, appraisal and relevant team meetings.If you have the relevant experience or are interested in widening your experience, would like to join a small, friendly and proactive team and are committed to improving the outcomes for children and their families then please apply.

*Level 5 Foundation Degree in Health & Care associated with Nursing Associate training.
Experience Essential *Evidence of working in a multi-disciplinary and cross agency work environment under appropriate supervision as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
*Experience of providing and receiving complex sensitive information.
*Experience of managing / prioritising own case load / workload, delegating tasks and using initiative.
*Competent in a range of clinical skills and practices relevant to the scope of practice required.
*Insight into how to evaluate own strengths and development needs, seeking advice where appropriate.
*Understanding of the scope of the role of the Nursing Associate in context of the nursing and interdisciplinary team and the organisation, and how the role may contribute to service development.
*Understanding and acts within NMC professional standards of practice contained within the NMC code of conduct.
*Understanding of the principles of safeguarding and Mental Capacity.
*Awareness of health and safety issues.
*Can demonstrate an understanding of the elements associated with NMC Revalidation.
Additional Criteria Essential *Demonstrate achievement of drug administration calculation skills.
*Ability to organise and prioritise own delegated workload.
*Good IT skills ability to record information electronically.
*Ability to communicate effectively (written, verbal and non verbal communication) with patients/relatives and carers and all members of the multi-disciplinary team.
*Ability to communicate with a wide range of health care professionals, on a variety of complex and sensitive issues which require persuasive and empathetic skills.
*Ability to work under pressure across competing priorities, Ability to deal with non- routine and unpredictable nature of workload and individual patient contact.
*Ability to participate in reflective practice and clinical supervision activities including safeguarding supervision.
*Ability to develop effective and appropriate relationships with people, their families, carers and colleagues.
*Ability to support, supervise, assess and act as a role model to nursing associate students, other learners and health care support workers as required within the clinical setting.
