As the Head of Community Learning , you'll oversee a geographically dispersed team, ensuring exceptional support for students while driving their progress toward reintegration into education.

What we are looking for: Qualifications: Hold a teaching qualification (QTS/QTLS).
Degree or equivalent.
NPQSL and/or NPQH (desirable).
Management & Organizational Skills: Strong administrative and organizational skills to manage the operational performance of the Community Learning Team.
Ability to oversee the delivery of an effective curriculum and pastoral support, ensuring high expectations of staff and students.
Proven ability to manage and support staff with behavior management and ensure compliance with safeguarding policies.
Partnership & Community Engagement: Experience working collaboratively with Heads of Schools, parents, community organizations, and stakeholders to support students with diverse needs.
Ability to provide rigorous progress updates and reports for stakeholders and ensure high-quality interventions to overcome barriers to education.
Knowledge: Understanding of equality of opportunity, safeguarding, child protection, and inclusion issues, particularly for vulnerable children in alternative education.
Knowledge of Ofsted inspection frameworks (non-association independent schools framework experience desirable).
Problem-Solving: Confidence and gravitas to swiftly identify and address operational and student challenges, ensuring all matters are followed up and resolved.
Ability to deliver professional support and challenge at all levels to drive continual improvement.
Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage with a wide range of audiences, including students, parents, carers, and stakeholders.
Confidence in delivering clear and persuasive communication tailored to varied contexts.
Experience: Teaching experience across the secondary age range with a track record as a creative and inspiring educator.
Experience working with students of a challenging nature in alternative provisions.
Familiarity with virtual learning environments (desirable).

Core Responsibilities: Oversee the operational management of the Community Learning programme, ensuring the performance of Community Teachers who each manage a caseload of five young people.
Work closely with the Senior and Wider Leadership Teams to ensure students are well supported and progress toward reintegration into education.
Manage the delivery of a broad, exciting, and stimulating curriculum tailored to the needs of the students.
Promote and secure high-quality pastoral interventions to address barriers preventing students from accessing education.
Liaise with Heads of Schools to provide updates on Community students linked to their schools.
Provide rigorous progress reports to stakeholders on Community-based cohorts and attend inspections for schools with Community students on-roll.
Ensure robust assessment and attainment tracking systems are in place to inform teaching and learning strategies.
Uphold, promote, and ensure adherence to all company policies and procedures, including safeguarding.
Promote the values and achievements of students to the wider community.
Provide senior-level support to staff in all aspects of behavior management.
Contribute to a positive ethos for learning and undertake additional tasks as reasonably required by the Director of Schools or Leadership Teams.
Preferred Skills: A highly motivated, energetic, and enthusiastic leader who inspires positive relationships and maintains high expectations.
Effective coaching and mentoring skills to support staff development.
Strong ability to prioritize, work under pressure, and meet deadlines.
Analytical skills to synthesize complex information, summarize findings, and make informed decisions.
Proven ability to relate well to children, understand their needs, and motivate them effectively.
