Job overview Whatever the challenges, we believe in opportunities and there is always an opportunity for hardworking, proactive, kind, and compassionate clinicians here.Sandford ward is an 14 bedded male Older Adult Mental Health Ward for those who have acute or functional mental illnesses, often with co-morbidities, which require treatment which would otherwise not be able to be given in the community.Sandford Ward aim to provide person centre care to individuals with both Organic and functional illness.
Proactive and effective treatment to promote service users to recover and return to their usual place of residence.You will become part of a dynamic team for patients requiring assessment, care and nursing interventions, within an environment which is fast paced, dynamic and high in engagement - with a real opportunity to make a difference to others.
Main duties of the job Contribute and participate under supervision in the assessment, planning, implementing and evaluation of care and treatment in the ward environmentTo participate as a member of the nursing team in delivering care as prescribed in the individual care plan.Participate in the development, monitoring and evaluation of individual care plansDevelop therapeutic relationships as part of the on-going assessment and care delivery process, and ensure relevant information is reported to the trained nurse.Work collaboratively with clients to meet their care needs and assist / support them to carry out activities of daily living whilst promoting dependence.Contribute to general observation of the clients mental and physical health, ensuring relevant information is appropriately recorded and reported to the trained nurse / multi-disciplinary team.Be aware of basic symptomatic features that require observation and monitoring, knowing when to seek assistance and advice.Be aware of the implications of the use of the Mental Health Act in relation to client care, and ensure these are met in consultation with trained nurses.To lead (in consultation with OT and trained nursing staff) in the development and coordination of group & recreational activities for clients.Leading and supporting junior staff in the delivery of these Escort clients both within and outside the hospital as required, supporting clients to maintain social contacts and undertake daily activities as appropriate.
