Job summary An exciting opportunity has arisen for a clinical nurse specialist within the Early Pregnancy Assessment Unit or, a Registered Nurse with an early pregnancy qualification in scanning wishing to advance their role.
This position is for hours and will be cross site working at Heartlands and Good Hope Hospitals, Birmingham.Working within a small and friendly team, the role would require you to have a sound knowledge of complications in early pregnancy, and a desire to make a difference in patient care for ladies who may be going through an emotional and distressing time.The successful applicant will also have extensive gynaecological knowledge, be able to work flexibly to meet the needs of the team and service and be prepared to undertake further specialist training when needed within gynaecology and early pregnancy.
Main duties of the job To provide a dedicated service to women and their families who experience pregnancy related problems up to 15+6 weeks gestationTo provide highly sensitive information about options of care to women who have miscarried, have a non-viable pregnancy, ectopic pregnancy or trophoblastic pregnancy.To provide reassurance and on-going support to women who have pain/bleeding with a viable pregnancy.Independently perform early pregnancy and gynaecological ultrasound to aid assessment of patients including writing a formal reportInterpret ultrasound findings and act accordinglyRun specialist nurse led clinics daily managing your clinical case load -- refer to appropriate teams such as fetal medicine, antenatal clinic, safeguarding team, teenage pregnancy midwife, bereavement midwives, substance misuse teamInterpret blood results, urine, swab & histology results-- refer to appropriate teams such as diabetes, joint obstetric haematology clinic, maternal medicine antenatal care and molar pregnancy follow up About us We are recognised as one of the leading NHS Foundation Trusts in the UK.
