**Job summary**:
Band 7 Team Lead for Specialist Surgery Physiotherapist/Occupational Therapist

We are looking for an enthusiastic, self-motivated, innovative Occupational Therapist or Physiotherapist to work alongside our existing, highly skilled and experienced Specialist Surgery therapy team. We are looking for an individual who is able to deliver specialist surgical care to a high level. You will need excellent clinical and leadership skills as well as a keen interest in research. A flexible approach and excellent team working, organisational and time management skills are essential. You will need experience working as a qualified Band 6 or 7 Occupational Therapist or Physiotherapist within the acute hospital setting; managing multiple specialities including General Surgery; Urology; ENT and Vascular.

The post holder will have opportunity to work closely with the Birmingham Regional Vascular Centre. They will be required to implement specialist programmes of Therapy care within this speciality field and be a key contributor to the development of new therapy within this specialist field.

The post is one of two team lead positions shard with an experienced physiotherapist. You will join our large dynamic team of Therapists who provide a Therapy service within this teaching trust. WE are committed to continued professional and career development of all staff.

**Main duties, tasks & skills required**:
The post holder will work alongside and collaborate with a diverse and specialist multi-disciplinary team including Vascular and Specialist Surgery Physiotherapists, Clinical Nurse Specialists, Surgical and Vascular Consultants, Critical care practitioners and community agencies.

This post is based at our Heartlands site. However, as the trust is a multi-site organisation you may be required to work at any of the trust sites and may need change your normal place of work at any of the trust sites and may need change your normal place of work, either temporarily or on a permanent basis as a result of development or reorganisation of Trust services.

Applicants wills be required to participate in the 7 day working rota within the Medical/Surgical Therapy teams.

**Qualifications**:
**Essential**:

- Good standard of general education including English language and mathematics, A levels or equivalent
- Degree in Occupational Therapy/Physiotherapy
- Registered with HCPC as an Occupational Therapist/Physiotherapist
- Evidence of relevant postgraduate training in specialist area

**Desirable**:

- Registered Member of Royal College of Occupational Therapists
- Registered Member of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapists

**Experience**:
**Essential**:

- Relevant postgraduate experience in specialist areas relevant to the post
- Experience of effective staff management and leadership
- Experience of management of adults within specialist surgery area of practice
- Experience of Therapy students at clinical tutor and supervisor levels
- Experience of leading audit
- Experience of training staff groups at all levels
- Evidence of working effectively in partnership with others within multi-disciplinary teams and across agencies

**Desirable**:

- Experience of conducting or being involved in audit, implementing outcome measures and/or research in the specialist area
