Senior Wellbeing and Public Health OfficerPermanent, Full Time£34,293 to £40,345 per annumLocation: ChelmsfordWorking Style: Closing Date: 15th December 2024 This role of a Senior Wellbeing and Public Health Officer plays a very important part within People, Policy, Economy and Public Health and wider Essex County Council structures, to the Council's aspiration to become an outcome focused and evidence-based commissioning authority.
The role As one of our Senior Wellbeing and Public Health Officers, you'll be a key member of our Wellbeing, Public Health and Communities function, providing a specific focus on health care public health.
Working alongside the consultants in public health, you will be instrumental in providing public health specialist expertise and advice to NHS and County Council health and care commissioners for adults and children and to the wider health and care system in Essex.
Collaboration will be key to your success as you focus on objectives that will improve health and reduce inequalities throughout Essex, and our excellent relationships with the world-class universities of the county mean that you'll also enjoy research and teaching opportunities.

We will support your journey to Public Health Practitioner registration, and/or Specialty Training in Public Health.
What will you bring We are looking for someone who is comfortable working with numbers, is a critical thinker and curious about how things work, willing to challenge the status quo, can work with complexity, and can communicate information to a wide variety of audiences verbally and in writing.
You will provide an independent interpretation of published evidence; provide advice and support for evaluation of service change; and advise on the design of services to promote health and tackle inequalities.
You will have a degree in Public Health, or a degree in a relevant subject with evidence of continuing professional development and expert knowledge in relevant professional areas, in particular demonstrating ability to analyse data and/or evaluate evidence.
Ideally knowledge and experience of all aspects of the commissioning cycle, project life-cycle and related activities gained within a commissioning environment.
We are looking for excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to present complex information to a wide audience.
You should also have evidence of successfully delivering outcomes, demonstrating breadth of thinking and managing change in a complex, multi-stakeholder environment.
Please note that the job role requires you to be mobile throughout an operational area.
Therefore, the post holder will need to have a driving licence and access to a vehicle, or the ability to meet the mobility requirements of the role through other means.
