So, we have a brand new opening for a Sterile Services Department Lead to support the Theatre Manager in ensuring a continuously compliant, safe and effective decontamination and sterile supplies service.

In this position, the Sterile Services Department Lead will assist in guiding the Sterile Services (CSSD) team, ensuring all staff are working in line with; Quality Management in Sterile Processing (QMS) and CE accreditation standards.
This is a permanent position Working Monday to Friday with one Saturday, every other weekend.
Hours based on two shift patterns; Early - 07:00 - 15:00 Late - 11:00 - 19:00 Potential Bank Holiday working Main duties of the job As the Sterile Services Department Lead youll be hands on and familiar with all departments work requirements, to include; cleaning, assessing, assembling, and the packing of surgical equipment, leading on to sterilisation and then distribution.
You'll ensure all are working in accordance with documented departmental policies and procedures and will need to action all defects identified in theatre trays and instruments accordingly.
Part of your role will be to make sure that all relevant daily validation testing is scheduled and undertaken, this would then need to be recorded and documented.
You'll carry out quality checks for cleanliness and completeness of equipment before distribution.
It'll be part of your responsibility to identify and check all returned equipment as specified on a specification sheet, including labelling and recording for traceability.
Youll look to ensure that the good communication and teamwork within the department is maintained.
You equally be reasonable health and safety of yourself and others so youll naturally be looking to monitor the use of PPE in the department when decontamination tasks are being undertaken.
You'll attend meetings as the department representative with internal and external enquiries coming your way.
You'll have to effectively manage machine failures and downtimes through suppliers to effect repairs as well as ensuring all loan equipment is received, logged and ready for collection when required.
About us As the Sterile Services Department Lead you'll be leading by example in all departments work requirements.
It is envisaged that the appointed Sterile Services Department Lead will be very knowledgeable of sterilisation procedures and relevant decontamination practices and will have working experience within an accredited quality assurance system and will have working knowledge of Quality Management in Sterile Processing (QMS).
You'll have led or managed a team before or deputised successfully for a senior manager in the past, ensuring moral and installing motivating, providing training needs and mentoring and coaching new staff.
You'll be an effective communicator at all levels both written and verbal and will have strong IT skills.
